Realising that there is only one moment and everything exists now, means that there is no past or future. This brings us to an interesting conclusion – all memory is created in the present moment. In order to experience continuity in our life, we hold on to a series of ideas about ourselves and call it our “past”. These ideas are connections to parallel realities that exist right now, which is the reason why some very old memories can be so vivid that they seem like they’ve “just happened yesterday”. In the actual fact, they are happening now.
We literally re-create ourselves anew and are not the same people we were a moment ago. This understanding can free us from the belief that our past must affect our present. Any past events can only affect our current experience if we choose them to. Therefore, all past traumas can be let go of if they are no longer relevant to the person you are choosing to be now.
